Obama gets a big win today courtesy of the Supreme Court. Well, kind of. Obama’s individual mandate was deemed constitutional as a tax. This is a two sided sword. He keeps his individual mandate in place, but the punishment will come in the form of a tax, something Obama clearly stated many times it wasn’t. So will Obama have to back peddle and admit that if you don’t want to participate, you will be taxed?

Obama doesn’t ever like to admit he was wrong. So he will spin this till it can’t be spun anymore. The deciding factor believe it or not was Chief Justice John Roberts. What, a republican nominated Justice went against the parties standards. I would have never thought that Justice Roberts would be the wild-card in the Obamacare saga. I was so wrong on so many levels. I thought there was no way in heck that Obamacare would survive the Supreme Court. Yet here we stand.

So what does this do for Obama and his re-election campaign? For the most part, nothing. It will be seen as a victory for Obama, but I think this ruling will awaken the sleeping giant, the Republican machine. I don’t think Obama benefits much from this win. I do think it will hurt his chances more than it will help him. Only time will tell.

I am terribly surprised that the whole Obamacare wasn’t thrown out as unconstitutional. I was expecting this law to go down in flames. So, now the only way to get rid of Obamacare is to elect a new president who will repeal Obamacare. Romney has vowed to repeal it, but I think he has some problems with this. Since he created a similar Romneycare, people might not wholeheartedly believe he will do it.

I personally feel this Obamacare needs to be repealed. I don’t think anyone should be forced into buying anything. I also personally believe in individual responsibility. If someone can’t afford to buy healthcare, then they need to get a second job to find the money to pay for it themselves. We can’t continue helping everyone. People need to start taking responsibility for themselves. Or there should be an account set up for healthcare and anyone who wants to can put money in the pot for those less fortunate can, but no one should be forced to pay for another. That is wealth redistribution.
